Our Story

In 2004, members of the GNC leadership team formed the GNC Live Well Foundation to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Pressley Ridge. In our first year, we hosted the first of many GNC Charity Golf Outings and through the generous contributions of our vendors, partners and employees, we raised significant funds which we donated to both organizations. This donation helped Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to continue to provide outstanding care to infants, children, and young adults whose families could not afford the care on their own. For Pressley Ridge, it helped to provide needed services for children, adults and families facing difficult challenges and complex situations.

Over the years, we have expanded our fundraising efforts and have donated to a number of worthy causes and charities. In addition to fundraising events, we have also conducted successful point-of-sale fundraisers that have harnessed the generosity of our customers to make the world a better place.

…When a fire ravaged Pittsburgh’s Midtown Towers, we knew we had to do something.

We have expanded our giving to include a variety of charities that align with our mission of creating “a world where everyone can pursue a healthier life.” These charities have included St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the FitOps Foundation, USATF Foundation, the American Red Cross, and a range of other organizations.

In addition to donating to charities we believe in, we also make donations in accordance with what is happening in our communities. For example, when a fire ravaged Pittsburgh’s Midtown Towers, close to our corporate offices, we knew we had to do something. The people living in those towers were our neighbors and neighbors look out for one another. Through our relationship with the American Red Cross who were providing assistance to those affected, we donated to a fund for the victims of the fire to help them to get back on their feet.

We’re proud of the work we’ve done so far, but we know there’s always more to be done. Every day, we will work toward a world where everyone has the chance to live well.
